AmpSurf founder and president Dana Cummings (right) talks to Cal Poly students Caitlin Tang-Hornbuckle (materials engineering) and Josh Simpson (electrical engineering) about the adaptive, all-terrain wheelchair they designed and created for AmpSurf, which promotes surfing as adaptive therapy. An interdisciplinary team of four students (also including industrial engineering student Lauren Knott and mechanical engineering student Seth Yakel) tested their senior project during the organization's VetSurf event at Pismo Pier the day before graduation. The project received national attention, airing on TV news channels coast to coast.
