Members of Cal Poly’s Amusement Park Engineers and Designers (CAPED) club enjoy an exhilarating visit to Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California. The park, renowned as the “Thrill Capital of the World,” boasts a record-breaking 20 roller coasters — the most of any amusement park globally. During their visit, CAPED members were treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour led by Six Flags engineers and maintenance managers, who showcased the park’s on-site machine shops and provided insights into the complexities of ride mechanics and design. Established in 2006, CAPED connects students from various disciplines to the themed entertainment industry by hosting expert speakers, facilitating conference attendance and participating in national competitions.
