A Powered Picnic

Industrial engineering student Michelle Barnett attaches solar panels to a single-axis array atop her senior project, “Solar-Powered Picnic Table,” in the Electrical Engineering Courtyard near Building 20. Barnett and the other members of Team SunSation — Christopher Barber (mechanical engineering/electrical engineering), Casey Durham (general engineering) and David Mason (mechanical engineering) — have built a concrete and steel picnic table with two solar panels that provide shade and power lighting, the sun-tracking array, and cellphone chargers.
