Hammer Time

Student hammer
Two teams of Cal Poly engineering students designed and worked with a manufacturer to cast a heavy “Thor’s Hammer” for the Steel Founders’ Society of America (SFSA) Cast in Steel 2021 Competition. Cast in Steel 2021 pits collegiate teams from the United States, Canada and Mexico in a competition focused on the use of modern casting computer power to design and produce a functioning tool or weapon based on an historic design.
