Dark Arts: Fluorescent Imaging

Biomedical engineering student Samantha Lynes works on fluorescent imaging of cell tissues for a project led by professor Kristen Cardinal. Because fluorescent imaging, a type of non-invasive imaging technique that can help visualize biological processes taking place in a living organism, is highly susceptible to light contamination, Lynes is working on much of the project in the dark with a microscope covered by a cloth.
