Grant Opportunity: Up to $145K to Support Technology and Public Benefits

We are very excited to announce the sixth year of a funding opportunity available to Cal Poly researchers in all colleges: The Public Interest Technology Challenge Grants. Public Interest Technology (PIT) refers to the study and application of technology expertise to advance the public interest in a way that generates public benefits and promotes the public good, particularly for those members of our society least well served historically and today by existing systems and policies. The Network Challenge provides grant funding of up to $145k to support research and training at the intersection of technology and public benefit.

Projects addressing either of the following priority areas are welcome: Educational Offerings or Career Pipeline/Placement.

This is a limited submission, so there will be an internal competition to determine which submissions will be made on behalf of Cal Poly. The RFP for this internal competition, the required pre-proposal form, and the internal review panel’s evaluation rubric are attached.

If you are interested in applying, please submit the pre-proposal form by 8 a.m. on Monday, April 15. The form asks for the title of your proposed project, the funding level you are seeking: 90k or 145k, along with a two-page project description/abstract. Please email all documents to Stephanie Fabro at sfabro@calpoly.edu

Those chosen in the limited submission will be notified by April 24 to further develop your proposals for the PIT-UN deadline.

The campus routing deadline will beMay 8,with full proposals due by May 15 before PIT-UN’s national deadline of May 17.
