Join a collaborative showcase to learn about 75 summer research projects during the 2022 SURP+ Symposium from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14.
The event will be held in the Engineering Plaza, between the ATL, Bonderson and Building 192.
Student poster presenters worked alongside faculty members and community partners throughout the summer, resulting in student-faculty co-authored publications and university-industry-and-community collaborations.
Highlights include:
· A special collection housing WWII era records of Black San Luis Obispo, including military unit records, USO records, private correspondence and newspaper articles pertaining to the all-Black units.
· Reducing bullying in elementary schools through drama-based “upstander skills” training.
· Using computer technology to locate a missing person.
· Developing a model of the Gold Tree solar field with the ultimate goal of optimizing the field energy generation.
· Halting the breach of fiduciary duties and self-dealing by homeowner association directors.
· Issues surrounding gender diversity on corporate boards of directors.
Students will present their research findings during the event that is jointly organized by the Cal Poly College of Engineering, College of Liberal Arts, Orfalea College of Business and Office of Student Research in collaboration with LSAMP B2B California Central Coast Community College Collaborative that includes Allan Hancock College, Cabrillo College, Cuesta College, Monterey Peninsula College, Moorpark College, Oxnard College, Santa Barbara City College and Ventura College.
