Anurag Pande, civil and environmental engineering, and John Pan, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, were selected as two of seven Cal Poly faculty participating in “Building with Inclusive Leadership Institute” at San Diego State University May 23 and 24.
Launched in 2019, San Diego State University’s faculty leadership development initiative announced that its 2022 program would be open to faculty both at SDSU and at participating campuses (CSU Monterey Bay, CSU Humboldt State University, CSU Dominguez Hills, San Francisco State University, and CSU East Bay) across the CSU system. The goal of the institute is to “build on the leadership potential that already exists within the CSU” and “create a pipeline of diverse administrative leaders who are capable of advocating for the core mission of the California State University.”
During the leadership institute, Pande and Pan will develop a future vision of themselves as university academic leaders and a plan for their development; identify the strengths and assets, including cultural assets, they bring to leadership as diverse, equity-minded, and inclusion-minded faculty members; build relationships with current and emerging CSU leaders; acquire knowledge and skills relevant to mid-level leadership positions including department chair and associate dean and become familiar with BIPOC-centered theories of institutional change and leadership.
