College of Engineering and the Division of Research and Economic Development Scholarship Academy

Mentor and student

The College of Engineering and the Division of Research and Economic Development continue the series of summer webinars about research, scholarship and creative activity at Cal Poly on Monday, August 3.

Please join us for a deep dive into how to make research work at our particular PUI, including maintaining a program of scholarship and how to improve mentoring interactions with student researchers.  In the morning session, faculty will present examples of research groups from across campus (CENG/CSM/CAFES/CLA): their activities, funding sources, how they maintain their infrastructure and student training, etc.   The afternoon session will focus on creating productive and engaging mentoring relationships with graduate and undergraduate students in an interactive workshop.  Following this will be a panel discussion on workload and maintaining a research/teaching/life balance.  As always, there will be ample opportunities for questions.

Please join us in this and subsequent workshops.  All graduate students, staff and faculty are invited; these workshops will be of particular value to new-ish faculty who are currently establishing their scholarship at Cal Poly.  The attached flyer details individual sessions.  Below is the link for the webinar.  Please register prior to the next session, so we know how many participants to expect!  No attendance will be taken – you are welcome to drop in and out of these sessions as your schedule permits.

Presentation materials and webinar recordings of previous sessions are available at: https://ceng.calpoly.edu/scholarship-academy/.
