I want to share an opportunity that is open to both CENG faculty and students. As part of a regional economic development grant (Vandenberg Innovates), Cal Poly will be hosting a class in Aerospace Entrepreneurship this fall. This class is a hands-on workshop where participants will identify startup opportunities in the aerospace industry. You do not need to have an idea coming into this class – there will be super interesting guest speakers and lots of mentorship as we develop potential opportunities in teams. Following the course, participants will have the option of continuing to develop their idea with seed funding through the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. This class is funded by the grant, so there is no additional cost of attendance for faculty or students. I am excited to teach this class as my first time back in the classroom after serving as Interim Dean for the College of Engineering.
Class will be held Tuesdays/Thursday 4:30-5:50 p.m. and will be flexible to accommodate schedule constraints of participating faculty. While this class is specifically targeted at the aerospace industry, it is open to all students and faculty in CENG, as well as motivated rntrepreneurship minors in OCOB. I highly encourage faculty to consider attending — this is an opportunity to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and toolkit.
There will be an information session this Thursday at 5 p.m. Zoom link is: https://calpoly.zoom.us/j/86856423161
Please join us to learn more about the opportunity and see if it is a fit!
