The Lockheed Professorship supports the professional growth and development of T/TT faculty by providing research/scholarship funding in support of the teacher-scholar model. It is intended to develop and foster long-term relationships between faculty and collaborators with an emphasis on those external to the university. The Lockheed Endowed Professorship invests in the faculty members for a two-year period and should be considered to be seed funding to support the development of research projects which can lead to future external support by industry or funding agencies. For the 26-28 Award Cycle, 3 awards will be issued, and each awardee will receive $30,000 which must be spent over a two-year period (Sept 1, 2026 – Aug 30, 2028).
All T/TT faculty members are eligible to apply except for current Lockheed Professorship awardees and faculty serving on the current Lockheed Professorship selection committee. A slight preference will be given to early-career faculty and faculty who have not received this award before (see rubric). All research areas are eligible for support. The proposed work must be clearly linked to the candidate’s professional development plan. See Lockheed to look at past successful proposals.
Applications are due via InfoReady by Monday, April 20 by 11:59 p.m.
