Teach an EPIC Lab This Summer

Students disassemble an engine
Middle school students participating in the first week of Cal Poly’s Engineering Possibilities in College (EPIC) program work together to disassemble and reassemble a four-stroke gasoline engine in the lab of mechanical engineering Professor Eltahry Elghandour. The hands-on session introduces students to key engine components and highlights how mechanical systems function as an integrated whole.

EPIC is now taking lab submissions for the 2026 summer camp sessions. If you are interested in teaching a lab, please submit the lab information by February 27 here.

Labs should be hands-on. Instructors are compensated based on their state rate, and Cal Poly students are compensated based on their level of experience/knowledge.

The dates for this summer are:

Session 1      June 28-July 2          Grades 7-9

Session 2      July 6-9                   Grades 10-12

Session 3      July 13-16                 Grades 10-12

Session 4      July 20-23                 Grades 10-12
