We are highlighting Allie Walter, executive assistant to the dean, in this week’s College of Engineering staff spotlight!
What brought you to Cal Poly College of Engineering?
I had been at Cal Poly for 10+ years and was ready for a change. I had worked with CENG faculty, staff and students before through my roles in the Division of Research and had always been extremely impressed. I jumped at the opportunity to work in the college!
What is your favorite part of your job?
The people!
What is your favorite place in San Luis Obispo County and why?
Anything with a trail and a view! I love hiking with my family and am constantly amazed by our beautiful county.
How do you like to spend your free time?
Playing board and card games with my family, baking and cooking (especially new recipes), and exploring the Central Coast.
What is the most helpful advice you’ve received?
That when one door closes, another one opens. I try to remember that things often have a way of working themselves out; maybe it’s not how I thought it would go, but maybe it’s better and I just couldn’t see that before.
