New Mustang Makerspace Open to All Students

Laser machines

Welcome back, Cal Poly students! As we start the new 2025-26 academic year, the Cal Poly Machine Shops, under the College of Engineering, would like to invite you to our new Mustang Makerspace.

Located in Bonderson (Building 197) next to Mustang ‘60, the Makerspace is the new space for all things digital fabrication. We have 56 3D printers — including Bambu, Prusa, Elegoo, Formlabs and MarkForged systems — four laser cutters, an embroidery machine, a new industrial Cricut vinyl cutter and sewing machines. This space is a completely free resource for class projects, senior projects or personal projects! It is open to ALL students, regardless of major or engineering experience. Our shop techs will teach you everything you need to know to get started, and they are happy to answer any questions or provide any assistance to your project.

During weeks 2-10 of fall quarter, the Makerspace will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Any of the 3D printers within the space can be accessed without safety training in our shops, but to use the lasers, you will need to get a Red Tag Certification. If you are interested in getting a Red Tag Certification or receiving any other trainings, please go to our website for more information. Also, feel free to reach out to calpolyshoptechs@gmail.com for any questions. We look forward to seeing you in our shops!
