Computer Science and Software Engineering 

Zoë Wood and Ayaan Kazerouni (CSSE).

Computer science Professor Zoë Wood and computer science and software engineering Assistant Professor Ayaan Kazerouni were recently published in ACM Transactions on Computing Education for their work, “The Benefits of Socially Responsible Computing in Early Computing Courses: A Multi-Institutional Study at Primarily Undergraduate Hispanic-Serving Institutions.” The purpose of this research is to strengthen the sense of belonging and retention among Hispanic/Latino computing students. This publication is a collaboration among professors across six California State University campuses.

Industrial and manufacturing engineering professors Puneet Agarwal and Alessandro Hill, along with Cal Poly graduate Kalen Goo, recently published a paper in the Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery. Their work, “Recommending the Right Academic Programs: An Interest in Mining Approach using BERTopic,” focuses on a system that provides students with tailored program information based on personal preferences, and the content of different academic programs to identify the educational pathway best suited for each student.
