What made you choose to study engineering at Cal Poly?

The competitive computer science program and hands-on philosophy of Learn by Doing drove me to study engineering at Cal Poly.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy playing tennis, going to the gym, doing yoga, reading and traveling.

How does your Cal Poly education apply to your job and daily life?

Learn by Doing is everywhere. I fearlessly dive head-first into projects I have no prior experience in because I am confident in my background and critical thinking abilities to figure it out.

What do you think engineering’s biggest impact on the world will be in the future?

I think it will be finding ways to best utilize limited resources and repurpose materials in more sustainable ways.

What advice would you give to current engineering students?

It’s OK if you don’t know what you want to do. Innovation can seem like a big challenge since technology is already so advanced. Just start somewhere and start small. By the time you look back, you’ll have accomplished a lot, whether it’s personal growth or tackling a big problem.

What clubs or activities were you involved in while at Cal Poly?

I was part of club tennis, ballroom dancing, Cal Poly Entrepreneurs and Women in Software and Hardware (WISH).

What are your current career goals?

I want to grow and fund my startup company, MindSprout, which works to combat problem gambling. It’s been incredibly rewarding to work on something that not only helps me grow professionally but also helps people who struggle with something as life-altering as problem gambling.
