I am excited to announce the launch of this year’s Seed Grant Program from the Center for Expressive Technologies. Seed Grants are open to tenure track faculty, lecturers and staff from all Cal Poly departments and colleges. The program provides up to $4000 for student assistants, travel or additional compensation to support research or creative activities, plus an additional $1000 available for studio costs. The grant can also be combined with other College or University funding.

Any project that studies or uses technology in creative ways to improve the human experience is eligible. If your project enhances community, justice, education, beauty or other human values, please consider applying!

CET Seed Grant Projects can utilize the Jack and Felicia Cashin Expressive Technology Studios in the William and Linda Frost Center for Research and Innovation. This is an amazing space to use the latest projection, sound and lighting technologies, and for the exhibition of art, video, audio or mixed reality experiences, live performances, and community engagement.

If you have a creative idea for a new project or want to utilize a great new space on campus for your work, I encourage you to submit your proposal.

The deadline is Friday, April, 25. More information about how to apply is provided on the CET website, where you can learn more about CET and find examples of past Seed Grant projects.

You are also welcome come to the Annual CET Reception next week (Thurs, 3/13 from 4:30-6 pm in the Atrium of the Frost Center). You can chat with current and former CET grantees and meet other folks to collaborate with on your 2025-26 CET project! Please RSVP here.

Let me know if you have questions. I am happy to meet with individuals or come to department meetings next quarter. You can email me here.
