Join Research Associate Dr. Denis Muthike Present on Climate Resilience with Impact

Cal Poly Engineers without Borders will host Research Associate Dr. Denis Muthike as he presents on his climate resilience research as it relates to drought resilience in the Horn of Africa, carbon credits for water services, footbridge impact evaluation and agriculture results.

The event will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 in Building 3, Room 114.

Dr. Muthike’s research interests are in a wide range of environmental questions, predominantly focused on communities living in agricultural and rangeland environments. He leads Mortenson Center’s climate resilience projects in East Africa whose goal is to enhance food and waters ecurity for rural communities using remote sensing, in-situ sensors, geospatial analytics, datascience and stakeholder engagement approaches. Prior to his current role, he was on the NASA SERVIR hub team for over a decade, providing leadership on weather and climate resilience research in the eastern and southern Africa region. He has trained over 500 professionals in diverse climate topics and mentored more than a dozen young climate scientists starting their careers in the field.
