Right-To-Repair Study

Student works in machine shop
A summer research project led by mechanical engineering Professor Hyeonik Song is examining how self-repair practices in spaces like this machine shop impact students from diverse backgrounds, especially those traditionally underserved in STEM. Photo by Andy Sherar

We invite you to participate in an Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved 15-minute survey to explore your experiences with self-repairing your own devices, anything from small electronics to large appliances. With the recent implementation of the right-to-repair movement in California, we aim to understand the motivations and barriers that influence your engagement with self-repairing your devices, particularly considering the backgrounds of our Cal Poly students. This survey is a part of our research to investigate the current culture surrounding self-repair practices.
