Civil Engineering Students Awarded Scholarships at ASCE Los Angeles Student Night & Job Fair

Gabe Denson (civil and environmental engineering) and Nick Mackechnie (civil engineering) each received awards at the Student Night & Job Fair hosted by ASCE Los Angeles Younger Member Forum in downtown Los Angeles on Friday, March 1.

Denson and Mackechnie were selected among applicants from 11 universities with civil engineering programs within ASCE’s Los Angeles Section’s jurisdiction.

Mackechnie currently leads the Cal Poly Timber-Strong Design Build Competition team and is the sports director for the Cal Poly Student Chapter of ASCE (SCE). He received a scholarship for Outstanding Undergraduate Student from the Los Angeles Younger Member Forum (LA YMF) of ASCE.

Denson received two scholarships for Outstanding Graduate Student, one from the Los Angeles Section of ASCE and the second from the LA YMF.  Denson is specializing in transportation engineering and is the former president and current treasurer of Cal Poly SCE.
