It is with great sadness that we share computer engineering Professor Joseph Callenes-Sloan died peacefully at home in Alexandria, Virginia, of a heart disease on Dec. 27, 2023.
Joseph had many friends and colleagues throughout the college and university and left a legacy of impact through his teaching and research, most recently securing a patent for an innovative approach to curbing wildfire spread (with electrical engineering Associate Professor Majid Poshtan).
