What made you choose engineering?

My family member has autism and needs prosthetics to help her walk. In the future, I want to use my knowledge to help design prosthetics for those who need them. Cal Poly is a phenomenal school for engineering and will push me in the right direction to accomplish my dream.

What is your favorite place in San Luis Obispo County and why?

It would definitely be any of the beaches. Hanging out with my friends and being able to watch the sunset at the beach is my favorite thing to do.

What was your earliest engineering project?

My earliest engineering project was in the seventh grade when I began to design a homemade portable charger to compare it with the battery life of other chargers.

What are your hobbies?

My hobbies are running, listening to music, going on hikes, playing the saxophone, watching movies and hanging out with friends.

What has been your favorite class and why?

My favorite class in high school was my Project Lead the Way (PLTW) class. I learned so many new things such as coding, design and the fundamentals of becoming a successful engineer.

Why did you choose to attend Cal Poly, and what was the path that brought you here?

I chose to attend Cal Poly because I wanted to pursue my dream of being a Division I athlete while also pursuing my dream of being a biomedical engineer. Cal Poly offered me the chance to do both, and I wasn’t going to let an amazing opportunity go.

How do you support the college’s commitment to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion?

I fully support the college’s commitment to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. I love that the school is fully committed to these concepts. As an athlete, it is important to create an environment where everyone gets along. I do my best to get new people involved and familiarize myself with them.
