CENG Faculty, Students Honored at Society of Women Engineers Conference

Three Cal Poly College of Engineering faculty members were recognized at the Society of Women Engineers’ annual WE23 conference.

College of Engineering Dean Amy S. Fleischer, General Engineering Program Director and Industrial Engineering Professor Lizabeth Thompson and Cal Poly’s Women’s Engineering Program Director Helene Finger were honored at the event in Los Angeles on Oct. 26-28.

WE23, organized by the Society of Women Engineers, is the world’s largest conference for women in engineering and technology. The event includes interactive workshops on leadership and engineering subjects that aim to empower women in the industry.

Fleischer, Thompson and Finger attended the conference and accepted their awards alongside members of Cal Poly’s chapter of the Society of Women Engineers.

Civil engineering master’s student Isabell Chavez and aerospace engineering master’s student Payton Porter also were recognized for their outstanding contributions to SWE, Cal Poly and the community.
