New Funding Opportunity: Sony Sensing Solutions University Program

Sony is looking to partner with Cal Poly faculty on creating innovative applications for their Spresense microcontrollers and peripherals.  Sony is particularly interested in projects that make use of Spresence’s key features of high-resolution audio, low power consumption, 6 cores and/or GPS localization.

Applications in the areas of Ag Tech, predictive maintenance and smart cities are some areas where projects have been funded in the past at other universities.  This award provides $18,000 over a one- year period from September 2023 to August 2024 to work on the proposed project.

For more information, check out the call for proposals on InfoReady and/or watch the recorded Info Session here:

Proposals are due on Monday, May 15 on InfoReady.

Sony is also interested in donating 30 Spresense kits for classroom use.  If you’d like to develop a course that makes use of this hardware, please contact Bridget Benson, Interim Associate Dean of Scholarship & Assessment at bbenson@calpoly.edu
