Cal Poly Accepting Applications from Graduating Seniors for AmeriCorps VISTA

Cal Poly is seeking upcoming graduates to fill the role of student success and outreach coordinator with AmeriCorps VISTA.

The student success and outreach coordinator is responsible for assisting with data analysis, program development and program and event planning focused on student recruiting and diversity-related initiatives for potential and current College of Engineering students. This includes initiatives such as the development and implementation of curricula for on-and off-campus recruitment events and for training new student leaders in equitable leadership practices.

Applications are open now until June 9, 2023. The student success and outreach coordinator role is a full-time position, with the upcoming program starting July 17, 2023 through July 15, 2024. 

The Cal Poly College of Engineering educates over 6000 engineering students enrolled in 14 undergraduate and 10 graduate degrees through an applied to Learn by Doing approach to education. Students participate in more than 80 college clubs and activities.  

This role is part of the CSU STEM VISTA program. As a member of this cohort, you will take part in a learning community of VISTAs across the California State University system. Our one-year program is designed to promote your growth professionally and personally as you create and enhance programs for STEM students and students enrolled in STEM Teaching credential programs.  

All projects within CSU STEM VISTA are focused on eliminating race, class and gender disparities in STEM undergraduate graduation rates and STEM Teaching credential programs. You will be trained to utilize sustainable, asset-based approaches that engage students of color, students from low-income communities and students who are the first in their families to attend college.
