The NASA Office of STEM Engagement is excited to present two opportunities for students. The first opportunity is NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge (HERC) which is an engineering design competition where students design and build human-powered rovers to traverse challenging terrains while completing scientific tasks along the way. As an Artemis Student Challenge, HERC draws inspiration from both the Apollo and Artemis missions, emphasizing designing, constructing, and testing technologies. The handbook for the 2023 HERC competition is available and prospective teams shall submit proposals by Thursday, Sept 8, 2022. Additionally, interested teams are invited to attend a Proposal Expectations Webinar Thursday, Aug 25 at 9:00am or 5:00pm (CDT). This virtual session will outline the proposal information found in this year’s handbook. Click HERE to register; webinar pre-registration is required. For more information about HERC, visit nasa.gov/HERC or email HERC@mail.nasa.gov.
Our second opportunity is NASA’s internship program which is an opportunity to participate in the Artemis generation by engaging in cutting-edge work, networking with peers, and working side-by-side with NASA scientists and subject matter experts. Internships are available in fall, spring, and summer. We are currently gearing up for the spring rotation. The spring application deadline is in mid-October.
Internship opportunities are for all manner of majors that include business, STEM, communications, graphics and legal.
Program requirements include:
- U.S. Citizenship
- 3.0 GPA
- Transcripts – Official or Unofficial (Should be most-recent and complete.)
- Resume
