The Office of the Dean of Students has seen an increase in mental health related referrals and severity of mental health challenges in spring quarter. As we approach the end of the quarter and academic year, we know our students may experience more stress.
In preparation for supporting students to successfully complete the year, please use the following resources.
- 5 ways college instructors can help students take care of their mental health article. Our colleague, Camille O’Bryant, shared the attached article which contains helpful information. The five ways outlined in the article are 1) Signal support in the syllabus and in class 2) Identify at-risk students 3) Question, persuade, refer 4) Address real-world issues and events, and 5) Don’t forget about your own mental health.
- Mental Health First Aid Training:
- Counseling Services. Students can access course and term withdrawal information here https://registrar.calpoly.edu/drops-withdraws-and-leaves.
