OWN (Original Womxn’s Narratives) is a student-created production at the intersection of social justice and theatre, exploring stories about taking ownership of or defying expectations of gender. OWN features stories of being socialized as womxn or experiences of womxnhood in body, mind, and/or spirit, be that in past, present, future, and/or fluid.
In addition to the performances, our OWN production also features a printed zine full of original artwork and writing from our Cal Poly community, highlighting experiences and understandings of gender.
Tickets are $7, and a sliding scale is available by contacting me at obtran@calpoly.edu for anyone who has concerns about being able to afford the ticket price. Join us at one or both of our performances on Saturday, April 23rd at 2 PM and 7 PM. Doors will open at 1:30 and 6:30 respectively!

*Please be aware that the subject matter and language in the show is strong, deals explicitly with trauma, and may be inappropriate for young viewers. We recommend 14+, but parents are welcome to bring young children (5 and under) free of cost if there are childcare concerns. We will have Advocates from Safer present to process any show content after each show.
**To create a space that is accessible to as many people as possible, we plan to have 1-2 ASL Interpreters working for the full length of the show.
***We are requesting that audience members wear masks during the show.
