The College of Engineering at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo invites applicants for tenure-track assistant professor positions across multiple departments.

College of Engineering is an internationally recognized, top-ranked, undergraduate engineering college. The College of Engineering prepares California’s next generation of leaders in engineering and technology. From the first day on campus, students are immersed in a project- and design-centered curriculum that stresses teamwork and collaboration across disciplines. The college offers fourteen Bachelor’s and eleven Master’s degrees.

Cal Poly Engineering Leadership Team

The departmental breakdown of the open positions and their strategic focus areas are as follows:

Civil and Environmental Engineering (1 position) – Contemporary Environmental Engineering concerns related to bioremediation, resource recovery, air quality, or solid/hazardous waste.

Computer Science and Software Engineering (2 positions) – One position in General Computer Science Education and one position in Software Engineering. The general Computer Science Education position will explicitly leverage the demonstrated significant experience of successful applicants in working with underrepresented students in research, teaching, service, advising, mentoring or community engagement.

Electrical Engineering (2 positions) – Modern Wireless/Digital Communications, Electronics, Sustainable Energy and Power Systems and/or Control Systems/Robotics.

Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (2 positions) – Enterprise Systems Design, and Automation and Integration for Manufacturing.

Materials Engineering (1 position) – Metallurgy and the practical applications of metals to industry.

Mechanical Engineering (4 positions) – Thermal fluids with a focus in Energy Systems; Autonomous and electric vehicles; Mechanical design methodology such as sustainable, entrepreneurial or machine design; Dynamics systems and an emphasis in the use of big data and/or artificial intelligence to support advanced system design. One of these positions will explicitly leverage the demonstrated significant experience of successful applicants in working with underrepresented students in research, teaching, service, advising, mentoring or community engagement.

Qualifications

The candidates are required to have earned doctoral degree in related Engineering field by the start date in Fall quarter of 2022.
