The 4th annual Students of Color Summit is happening virtually this year! The conference will take place on Saturday, May 22nd from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This year’s theme is The Embers of our Inspired Generations: (Re)Connecting to Environmental and Racial Justice.

Everyone interested in facilitating a workshop or leading a discussion is encouraged to apply! Please note; if you are a staff and/or faculty member, we ask that you work with a student(s) on developing and facilitating your workshop.

This year’s theme is (Re)Connecting to Environmental and Racial Justice. We aim to shed light on the issues affecting communities who have been impacted by environmental injustices and their intersections with colonization and systemic inequities. Environmental justice is rooted in addressing the inequities that can be perpetuated by the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental changes, laws, regulations, and policies. SOCS 2021 hopes to center critical perspectives on environmental justice and racial justice, engage in a restorative discussion, and unify our community in the pursuit of justice. Topics related to environmental and racial justice may include but are not limited to:

Land preservation & De-colonial Stewardship
Climate change & Global Warming
Farmworker rights
Immigrant rights
Health Disparities
Prison Industrial Complex
Gentrification vs. Urbanization
Reproductive justice

Applications for workshops are due April 30th by 11:59 p.m. You may also begin registering to attend the conference.
