Taufik delivered a keynote speech at the 8th International Conference on Sustainable Energy Engineering and Application 2020 (ICSEEA 2020) on Nov. 20.
The event was held virtually from 11/18 to 11/20 and invited four keynote speakers from Tokyo Institute of Technology Japan, Rolls-Royce Singapore Pte.Ltd. Singapore, Indonesian Institute of Sciences, and Cal Poly. For his keynote speech, Taufik presented the recent progress and challenges of his research on residential DC electricity for rural electrification and for future hybrid AC/DC house.
Since starting the project in 2010, the project has generated interests from many universities in Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand. As a result, Taufik has established research partnerships with several universities in those countries which further resulted in the completion of two prototype houses outside of Cal Poly (one in Philippines and the other in Indonesia). In addition, the project has generated numerous senior projects and MS theses at Cal Poly whose results have been published in engineering conferences with with students as co-authors. The project is still on-going with the next phase involving development of DC house network and hybrid AC/DC residential electrical system for future houses.
