Post Election Resource Guide for Undocumented Students and Allies

Here our Voices: Activism and Community Engagement Beyond Voting

“Vote to make a change” but what happens when you can’t vote? This does not have to define the power of your voice or your actions. Join us to discuss civic engagement beyond voting and the impact undocumented communities can make through advocacy and activism. Our discussion will be led by the wonderful, Valeria Suarez (they/she), an undocumented queer organizer from Lima, Peru. During the past few years, they have focused on supporting deportation defense cases to free undocumented community members from detention. Valeria is currently the Bay Area Youth Coordinator for the California Immigrant Youth Justice Alliance (CIYJA) and their work is centered around creating spaces for undocumented youth to learn deportation defense models to protect themselves and their communities. Valeria also serves as the coordinator for FREESF Coalition, organizing at the intersection of criminal justice reform and immigrant rights.

This event is part of the Dream Center’s Undocu-Issues series.
