See Virtual Cal Poly Campus Created on Minecraft for Graduation Ceremony

Students in the Computer Science & Software Engineering Department held their graduation ceremony in a virtual Spanos Stadium, thanks to Minecraft.

Shortly after the university announced it might have to cancel or postpone graduation ceremonies due to the COVID-19 pandemic, faculty and students in the Computer Science & Software Engineering Department began recreating the campus on Minecraft for a virtual ceremony.

Each student attending the virtual ceremony had an avatar. And, as their names were called, the actual student could be seen and heard remotely via Zoom. At the end of the ceremony, those who attended cruised the Minecraft campus, observing the finely detailed recreation.
