Graphic logo

Original Womxn’s Narratives (OWN) is an annual activism-based theatrical production put on by the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Gender Equity Center, part of the Cross Cultural Centers under the Division of Student Affairs. The show features, centers, and celebrates the stories of our Cal Poly and San Luis Obispo community members who have experienced aspects of womxnhood in body, mind, and/or spirit, be that in past, present, future, and/or fluid.

Friday-Saturday | April 10-11, 2020 | 7:00 pm

In addition to the performances, our OWN production features an Art Gallery comprised of pieces submitted by Cal Poly and San Luis Obispo community members. The works are representative of a multitude of experiences of womxnhood and are presented across multimedia artistic forms. The Gallery will be on display throughout the duration of the show on both nights. We are open for submissions of most mediums and will expand in any way that we are able to display. If you choose to submit art to our production’s gallery, you will need to provide an artist statement containing your contact information, as well as dimensions and description of your piece. Submit by March 20 to genderequitycenter@calpoly.edu.

Early Bird Tickets will be $12 and can be purchased until February 28th, 2020! General Admission Tickets will be $15 and will remain available up to curtains the day of each show! Be sure to grab your tickets as soon as possible! Join us at one or both of our two performances: Friday, April 10, 2020 from 6:30-10:00pm and Saturday, April 11, 2020 from 6:30-10:00pm.

*Please be aware that the subject matter and language in the show is strong and may be inappropriate for young viewers.

***To create a space that is accessible to as many people as possible, we plan to have 1-2 ASL Interpreters working for the full length of the show and the Auditorium is accessible for our community members of all physical abilities. Additionally, all restrooms in Spanos Theater will be Gender Neutral. Lastly, if cost is a barrier to you attending, please contact us and we will be happy to work something out with you!
