The International Center is pleased to announce that our Cal Poly affiliated partner CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange) is sponsoring 50 free passports for Cal Poly students to become first-time passport holders. Students must apply by Friday, February 7.
Selected applicants will be notified of their status no later than Friday, Feb. 14. CIEE along with local passport authorities will come to Cal Poly on Thursday, March 5 for CIEE’s Passport Caravan event. Faculty and staff are encouraged to share this opportunity with eligible students to help them receive a free U.S. passport. The event is part of CIEE’s support of Generation Study Abroad, an initiative to make study abroad accessible for more U.S students by breaking down the three major barriers to study abroad: cost, curriculum and culture. The goal of Generation Study Abroad is to double the number of U.S. students who study abroad. Students are encouraged to apply for this passport opportunity if they meet the following criteria:
- Are a U.S. citizen
- Are in need of a new passport — not a passport renewal
- Are available on March 5 for a short appointment on campus as part of the passport event
- Are a current freshman, sophomore or junior enrolled at Cal Poly
