According to the Director of the MBA program these courses routinely garner high praise from MBA students. For instance, “transformative,” “best course in the program,” and “wouldn’t have known what to do with my first job offer without this course” are recurring comments in the teaching evaluations for GSB 555.
Jon York’s teaching on entrepreneurship is informed by his experience as a serial entrepreneur. Here’s what he plans to cover in GSB 564: By focusing on start-up ventures and the early stages of company development, we will address the key questions that challenge all entrepreneurs and investors: How can we finance our growth; how much money can and should be raised; when should it be raised and from whom; what is a reasonable valuation of the company; and how should funding, employment contracts and exit decisions be structured? We will look at these issues from a holistic perspective, including by the numbers, the impacts on growth, and the goals of all parties.
GSB 534 is for those who recognize that operations management is critical to success in business today. Ahmed Deif’s course on Lean Operations Management not only teaches the principles, but in Cal Poly style insists on learning to use them.
Note these courses are assessed for Professional Fees to the tune of $720/course. All the non-MBA and MBA students in these courses will be paying the same tuition and fees.
