The Cal Poly National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) won the Region 6 Medium Chapter of the Year award at the national convention in Detroit, MI last month. The award is given to chapters who reflect the NSBE three-pillar mission: increasing the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.
According to chapter president Ben Granberry, the chapter’s variety of workshops with industry representatives, participation in various conferences and efforts to reach out and expose local middle schoolers to various STEM programs set the club apart from the other chapters in the 13 westernmost states.
