Applications are now open for the Fulbright US-UK Global Challenges Teaching Awards (GCTA), supported by AAC&U in partnership with the US-UK Fulbright Commission.
The GCTA will foster and support new transatlantic Virtual Exchange/Collaborative Online International Learning (VE/COIL) partnerships aimed at tackling four specific global challenges: Racial Justice, Inequality, Climate Change, Polarization and Division. Faculty from any discipline teaching undergraduate students at an accredited United States or United Kingdom higher education institution are eligible to apply.
Award grantees will be matched with a US/UK partner for the joint creation of a VE/COIL project. The award’s benefits include an honorarium of $5000/£3750 for the awardee (faculty member); a technical support fee of $2500/£2000 for the awardee’s institution; travel funding for the awardee and a member of administrative staff to visit their partner institution, up to a value of $5600/£4000.
An additional central benefit of the award is institutional participation in AAC&U’s Institute on VE/COIL. This year’s Institute offers a unique opportunity for collaboration between faculty members and supporting staff from higher education institutions in the US and the UK interested in establishing and advancing VE/COIL programs.
Participating institutional teams will engage in collaborative activities, professional development sessions, and virtual and physical exchanges to enhance their teaching practices, develop innovative strategies for internationalization, and create projects that help students collaboratively address key global challenges.
Apply by April 29 here.
