NASA’s Johnson Space Center is excited to be hosting two student design challenges for 2026. They span both the hardware and software side of spaceflight. Please see the opportunities below.
NASA’s Micro-g NExT challenge
NASA’s Micro-g NExT challenge is an opportunity for undergraduate students to work directly with NASA engineers to design prototypes for future Artemis missions. The prototypes are then tested on site with the students at NASA’s Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory. This challenge gives students the opportunity to see the engineering design process from beginning to end under the mentorship and guidance of NASA engineers.
Full challenge descriptions and requirements can be found on the Micro-g NExT website.
The deadline to submit a proposal is Oct. 28, 2025.
Join the Micro-g NExT team for an online information session to learn more about the challenge.

NASA SUITS
NASA SUITS is an opportunity for both undergraduates and graduate students from universities across the nation to design software to assist astronauts in surface exploration as part of the Artemis program.
SUITS allows ownership of the entire product development cycle and helps propel students into workforce readiness.
This year’s complete challenge description is available on the NASA SUITS website.
The deadline to submit a proposal is Oct. 30, 2025.
