Seeking Participants for Dyslexia Study

Dr. Brian Tyrrell-Nic Dhonncha (Department of Mathematics) is looking for participants in a study regarding the physical components of the cognitive processes that students with dyslexia use as they engage in university-level mathematics tasks. This study has been approved by the IRB, protocol 2025-079-CP.

What will we learn from the study?

How students with dyslexia reason and solve university-level mathematics tasks.

Who are we looking for?

Undergraduate students between 18 to 22 years of age who have been diagnosed with dyslexia by a health professional.

What will participants do?

● Answer a few questions related to their experience with dyslexia and their experience learning mathematics at university (~10 minutes).
● Participate in a task-based interview (~40 minutes) with Dr Tyrrell-Nic Dhonncha. The mathematical tasks will be determined based on the student’s mathematical experience.
● Participate in a separate interview (~40 minutes) with Dr Tyrrell-Nic Dhonncha reviewing and discussing their thoughts and experience in Interview #1.
