Everyone in the College of Engineering community is eligible to participate, including students, faculty, staff and alumni. At the end of the academic year, one winner will earn a grand prize!

Good luck!

Theme: Think Big!

Capture a photo that exemplifies thinking big.

Deadline: 5 p.m., April 1

To enter:

  • Complete the form below and attach your photo as a jpg or png (300 DPI or larger).
  • Make sure to include a detailed caption of the photo, including names, majors/departments and year at Cal Poly when applicable. Make sure everyone in the photo has approved publication of the photo.
  • Email any questions to CENGnews@calpoly.edu with the subject line: Photo of the Week Contest.

Best Practices:

Properly clean your lens.
Focus on one subject at a time.
Crop out unnecessary background.
Take multiple shots and choose the best one.
Move around the subject to ensure you have the best lighting.
Don’t over-edit your photos.
Use gridlines to balance your shot.
Avoid digital zoom. Instead, walk closer to your subject if necessary.

To switch the grid on:

iPhone: Go to “Settings,” choose “Camera,” and switch “Grid” on.
Samsung Galaxy: Launch the camera app, go to “Settings,” scroll down and switch the “gridlines” option to “on.”
Google Pixel: Launch the Camera app, then tap the down arrow. Go to “More Settings,” then “Grid type.” Finally, choose the type of grid you want.

All submitted photos may be used for Cal Poly or College of Engineering related publications.

Email any questions to CENGnews@calpoly.edu with the subject line: Photo Challenge.
