Student Employment Opportunities
An instructional student assistant (ISA) provides tutoring, grading, or instructions to other Cal Poly students. ISAs provide student support in labs, grading, test proctoring, and overall classroom support for lectures and labs.
The minimum qualifications for an ISA are:
1) admission or registration as a Cal Poly student (undergrad or grad), and
2) meeting the requested criteria for the class for which you are providing support.
To apply for these positions, contact your department office or look on Handshake.
A Teaching Associate (TA) is an instructor of record for a (primarily lower division) course.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Current enrollment in a graduate degree program at Cal Poly that is related to the discipline to which the individual is assigned
2. Equivalent to or completion of the requirements for a bachelor’s degree
3. Considered a student in good academic standing with GPA of 3.0 or higher within current program of study
Preferred Qualification
1. Teaching experience or experience as an instructional student assistant in an undergraduate course
