Let’s Talk Stem

Let’s Talk STEM is a free, confidential, drop-in space where STEM majors can have one-on-one, informal consultations with Cheri Love, LMFT (she/her), a provider with Campus Health and Wellbeing Counseling Services.

Who?

Cheri’s early career included research in immunology and cell and molecular biology. During her graduate internship, she helped coordinate the MATH SPIRAL summer program for students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and women’s colleges at the University of Maryland. She is passionate about supporting those navigating STEM challenges, especially BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, women, first-generation and neurodivergent students.

Why?

STEM students experience unique stressors due to the demanding coursework and the unique cultures of STEM fields.

Where?

Thursdays from 3:10 to 4 p.m. in Building 40, Room 119.

The service is available to all veterans and those who support them, even if they are not registered with the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) or enrolled in VA healthcare.

The disaster distress helpline provides immediate crisis counseling for people who are experiencing emotional distress related to any natural or human-caused disaster. The helpline is free, multilingual, confidential, and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
