STEM-NET Faculty Interdisciplinary Research Grant Program Internal Deadline Oct. 19
The STEM-NET group has updated their call for proposals to provide additional clarity regarding eligibility for the Faculty Interdisciplinary Research Grant Program. To summarize, there must be at least one faculty member from outside of the traditional STEM disciplines as well as least one STEM faculty member. The project PI can be from any discipline.
If we have more interest in this program than we can support, we’ll be reaching out to the Associate Dean of Research, or the position in the Dean’s office with similar responsibilities, from each college to review the proposals and provide their recommendations.
Internal proposals are evaluated based on review criteria that mirror the sponsor’s criteria and priorities. While these criteria vary from program to program, they generally focus on:
The match between the proposed project and the sponsor’s requirements and goals
The impact and significance of the proposed project
The strength of the PI’s and/or project team’s qualifications to perform the research or complete the scope of work
The quality of the proposal plan
After the review committee evaluates the applications, they will make a recommendation to the Office of Research. As this program requires nomination by the Provost, I’ll also be working with the Office of the Provost to review and confirm the nomination prior to announcing the selected proposal.
Remember: Faculty must submit proposals to grants@calpoly.edu by Oct. 19 at 5 p.m. to meet our internal deadline. Faculty cannot submit directly to the CSU, as submissions must go through the internal proposal competition first.
Please feel free to send any other questions you may have to the Pre-Award Office at grants@calpoly.edu.
