Library Alert: Early Impacts on ILL Due to Coming Alma Freeze

GENE building
Written By CENG MarCom Team

Maritime and Kennedy Libraries will be merging their two instances of OneSearch into a single, unified OneSearch, serving all Cal Poly patrons. This will go live on July 1. This will require a freeze of many key functionalities from June 12-June 30.

Earlier Interlibrary Loan Impacts

To ensure that all items are returned to other libraries and have been cleared from our system prior to the June 12 freeze, Interlibrary Loan options are scheduled to ramp down as follows:

  • 5/14 - Requests for books and other physical items will be limited to CSU libraries only
  • 6/1 -  Pause on ALL requests for books and other physical items until July 2
  • 6/11 - Pause on all digital requests until July 2

This phased ramp-down is intended to mitigate the ILL impact as much as possible, with digital requests still possible until June 11.

Faculty and students working in disciplines/projects likely to rely heavily on physical interlibrary loan requests should prioritize making those requests prior to May 14.  Physical items will still be available for requests from other CSU's until June 1, but after that, no physical ILL.

We hope that by providing this early alert students and researchers will know to make their requests early.

The freeze itself (June 12-June 30) will reduce many functionalities, including requests and changing or even viewing accounts.

Also, anyone planning to retire in July should submit PR 300 Form before June 11.
