Aeronautics Concentration

Wing view of new Cirrus SR22T aircraft in the sky overlooking ocean and buildings

Program Overview

The Aeronautics concentration focuses on the systems that enable aircraft to fly. Build on the Aerospace Engineering core with coursework in aerodynamics, propulsion, flight dynamics and control, then apply your knowledge in experimental aerodynamics and a two-part aircraft design senior project. Technical electives let you extend your study through topics such as aircraft performance, flight testing, computational aerodynamics, systems engineering or space systems.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Analyze aerodynamic performance and flight behavior.
  2. Apply propulsion, dynamics and control principles to aircraft systems.
  3. Plan experimental aerodynamic work and interpret test data.
  4. Contribute to an aircraft design through a systems engineering process.

Explore the Curriculum

Study aerodynamics and propulsion, then move into advanced analysis, wind tunnel experiments and aircraft dynamics and control. Your senior design project brings these areas together in an aircraft design.
