Learning Beyond Class
With more than 100 student clubs, both Recognized Student Organizations (offered through ASI) and Instructionally Related Activities (offered through departments), you can build skills, take on leadership roles and connect with others through shared interests.
Student Clubs
Recognized Student Organizations
Our college is home to more than 58 students clubs, offered through ASI, many of which are supported by the Multicultural Engineering Program (MEP). These organizations include the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), as well as discipline-specific teams such as Cal Poly Racing and PolySat.
What is an IRA?
Instructionally Related Activities
These groups are out-of-class experiences connected to academic programs. They give you added opportunities to apply what you learn through team projects, competition and faculty-guided work.
Ways to Get Involved
You can join RSOs and IRAs that match your interests, connect with your major or introduce you to new skills, industries and communities.
Project Teams
Project-based teams give you the chance to design, build and compete while working closely with peers on shared goals.
Professional Organizations
Professional organizations help you build community, explore career paths and connect with others in your field.
