Introduction to Equitable and Inclusive Teaching

October 13- November 17, Thursdays, 2:00-3:00 pm 

Introduction to Equitable and Inclusive Teaching introduces faculty to evidence-based teaching strategies for equity and inclusion, supports faculty in developing an inclusive course climate, encourages faculty to reflect on the impacts of social identities in higher education teaching and learning environments, and supports faculty in further developing an equitable and inclusive teaching lens.  

This workshop includes a 5-part asynchronous online course (offered through EdX) and synchronous meetings for discussion.The cohort will meet on Zoom for six synchronous meetings with the facilitators to discuss each week’s course content and its application to teaching at Cal Poly. (A Zoom link will be sent to registrants.) 

Co-facilitators: Dr. Soma Roy (Statistics) and Dr. Sarah Macdonald (CTLT)  

All Cal Poly educators, including staff, are encouraged to join.

Examining Whiteness Foundational Series 

October 11-November 15, Tuesdays, 9:30-11:00 a.m. 

Faculty and staff are invited to sign up for “Examining Whiteness,” a program inspired by Building Anti-Racist White Educators (BARWE). The Examining Whiteness foundational series is designed as a first step for white educators toward engaging in critical reflection on whiteness and working toward antiracism.   
  
The series is open to individuals at all levels of learning in their personal journey toward better understanding whiteness in their personal and professional lives.  
 
This six-week program will meet on Zoom. (A link will be sent to registrants.) Participants must be able to commit to attending at least five sessions.
