The Women’s & Gender Studies Department is accepting scholarship applications for the 2021-22 academic year! Take these steps now to make sure you are considered.
By Friday 4/30: Complete the Cal Poly Scholarships Application on the Cal Poly Portal.
Make sure to check one or more of the following three boxes to indicate your interest in being considered for WGSScholarships:
- In the university-wide list, check the box that reads “Demonstrated interest in and commitments to women’s and gender equity and rights through community service, related group activities, and/or leadership efforts.”
- In the CENG list, check the box that reads “Demonstrated interest in and commitments to diversity and equity via leadership efforts, especially in organizations that promote women’s rights.”
- In the CSM list, check the box that reads “Major in the College of Science and Mathematics with current contributions to community service, especially in relation to women’s and gender equity.”
In addition, when prompted to do so, make sure to include the name and email contact for academic/professional references
in your scholarship application.
Scholarships available for the 2021-22 academic year likely include:
Susan Currier Memorial Scholarship
Open to CLA students with a minimum 3.0 GPA and financial need. Preference will be given to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, who have overcome adversity, and/or who make valuable, current contributions to community service.
Vicki & Darell Farrer Scholarship
Open to students with a minimum 3.0 GPA who are majors in the College of Engineering, or in Chemistry, Physics, or Statistics. Must demonstrate a commitment to womxn’s/gender equity by servingas a leader in organizations with this purpose.
Sarah Perryman Memorial Scholarship
Open to juniors and seniors (in 2021-22) majoring in Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, or Physics with a minimum3.2 GPA. Must demonstrate a valuable, current contribution to community service. Preference will be given to students who are from disadvantaged backgrounds, who have overcome adversity, and/or who demonstrate a commitment towomxn’s/gender equity.
Dr. Shirley H. Walker Scholarship
Open to students in any major with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Must demonstrate a commitment towomxn’s/gender equity by serving as a leader inorganizations with this purpose.
Ralph R. Wilmar Women’s EducationalOpportunities Scholarship
Open to students in any major with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Must demonstrate a strong interest and/or active participation in promoting or enhancing educational opportunities for womxn and/or about gender.
