Spring SWE Welcome

Picture of four Cal Poly students.
Cal Poly Society of Women Engineers stays actively involved in a variety of community events like the California Central Coast VEX “Turning Point” Tournament they hosted in January. Twenty community members and more than 60 Cal Poly students volunteered at the event to help with tasks such as judging, robot inspectors and refereeing.

When: Thursday, April 11th at 9 am – Friday, April 12 at 10 am

Where: Advanced Technologies Lab (ATL), all over the Engineering Plaza, and all over Cal Poly.

We are seeking engineering students to participate in our Spring SWE Welcome event! How does it work? Admitted high school students shadow you during a regular school day to get a first-hand look at Cal Poly and engineering! This is a unique opportunity for you to interact with prospective students, give advice, and show them what your student experience is like. The fun continues into the evening as the high school students have the option to stay the night in the residence halls. Interested? You can sign up to be a day host, night host, or both!

If you would like to be a host (night hosts must live on campus), please fill out this form. We also have “floater” spots open for those wanting to help out, but who are unable to host for an entire day (you would help with various tasks on the day of).

In addition, if you have any engineering friends who are not in SWE, feel free to pass on the volunteer form link to them too!

If you have any questions, email Bela Cortwright at icortwri@calpoly.edu, Tess Loarie at Tloarie@calpoly.edu, or Vy Vu at vfvu@calpoly.edu
